The Southeast Public Health Board of Health has approved a $49.9-million mandatory programs budget for 2027.
The board met Wednesday in Kingston for its regular monthly meeting, where members also approved up to $200,000 from reserve funds for continued investments in infrastructure and technology.
New policies were also approved outlining how complaints about board members can be raised and how members must follow ethical standards. Board members will be required to sign an oath of conduct and confidentiality each year.
The board also passed a caretaker resolution ahead of the 2026 municipal election. The measure is intended to keep public health operations running while municipal representation on the board changes.
The resolution will take effect Nov. 15 and remain in place until municipal governments appoint enough members to restore quorum.
Board Chair Nathan Townend also thanked former Governance Committee chair Robin Jones, who has retired and moved from the region.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28.
