Southeast Public Health advances merger work, reports projected surplus

Unaudited 2025 financial results show a projected $3.6 million surplus.

The Southeast Public Health Board of Health met in Kingston for its regular monthly session, receiving updates on merger progress, governance, and finances ahead of its March 31 launch.

Ongoing merger efforts include harmonizing medical directives, migrating content to the new SoutheastPH.ca website, installing updated roadside signage across the region, and integrating computing systems and file architecture. Results of a recent staff Change Readiness Survey are expected in March.

At the committee level, Mayor Robin Jones was elected Chair of the Governance Committee, with Barbara Proctor as Vice Chair. Gananoque Councillor Anne-Marie Koiner was elected Chair of the Finance Committee, and Councillor Peter McKenna was elected Vice Chair.

Draft, unaudited 2025 financial results show a projected $3.6 million surplus, driven by slightly higher revenues and lower expenses. Pending audit, the surplus will be transferred to reserves to support long-term financial sustainability.
