First-round pick Kulemin had three points including his first-career OHL goal.
There were plenty of firsts for the Kingston Frontenacs as they welcomed a division rival on Friday night.
The Frontenacs got their first win at Slush Puppie Place this season beating the Oshawa Generals 5-2.
Kingston 2025 first-round pick Aleks Kulemin scored his first-career OHL goal. The 16-year-old forward finished with three points on the night.
Kulemin's linemate Matthew Frost also notched his first goal of the season. They along with Landon Wright combined for five points in the game.
It was the first time head coach Troy Mann put the three on the same line. For Kulemin, it was exciting to play with a pair of talented forwards.
Mann says that line was solid for the entire game.
The Generals took a 1-0 lead before the Frontenacs responded with goals from Malik McGowan (his first of the season), Frost, and Kulemin for a 3-1 lead after the first period.
Oshawa (1-4-0-0) would cut the lead to 3-2 early in the second period before Tomas Pobezal answered midway through the period to restore the two-goal lead for Kingston (3-1-0-1).
Mann says having everyone contribute on the scoresheet made this a great win.
Kulemin has five games in the OHL under his belt but believes there is still some adjustment he needs to make in order to compete with opponents on the ice.
Gavin Betts was outstanding in net for the Frontenacs stopping 21 of 23 shots in the win. Jaden Chollete faced 12 shots and was pulled in favour of Isaac Gravelle in the second after the 4th Frontenacs goal.
Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
The next game for the Frontenacs is Sunday afternoon when they entertain the Erie Otters at 2 pm.
If you can't be there live, you can catch the game on Upper Canada Fuel and Burner Frontenacs Hockey on New County 98.9.
