Southeast Public Health says work on services, funding, communications and emergency planning will begin over the next year.
Southeast Public Health has released its 2026-2028 strategic plan, outlining how the new health unit will shape its services and operations over the next two years.
The plan is important now because several of its initiatives are set to move forward within the next 12 months.
SEPH plans to define what equity means for its services and study demographic trends and gaps across the region, including rural communities. It also plans to assess how changes to the Ontario Public Health Standards could affect local services.
The health unit will also develop a new communications strategy and public health brand, while increasing engagement with municipalities and local politicians.
Financial planning is another focus, including five-year forecasting, reserve planning and preparation for upcoming changes to municipal contributions.
SEPH also plans new risk and emergency procedures, including continuity plans for major disruptions such as cyberattacks.
The plan calls for more regular updates between staff, the Medical Officer of Health and the Board.
