No injuries reported, but damages exceeded $5,000
A road rage incident on Highway 401 led to a crash and charges for both drivers, Ontario Provincial Police say.
Frontenac OPP responded to the collision just after 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, in the eastbound lanes west of Gardiners Road. Police say a car was trying to pass a tractor-trailer when a pickup truck began tailgating aggressively. Both drivers engaged in brake-checking and reckless driving.
The pickup truck attempted to pass on the left shoulder, sideswiping the car. Despite the crash, both vehicles kept driving. The car eventually pulled over and called police, but the pickup truck did not stop or provide information, which is required by law.
A 61-year-old from Camden East was charged with making an unsafe move. A 57-year-old from Odessa was charged with failing to remain at the scene and careless driving.
Both vehicles were driven away from the area of the collision.
