RMC cancels 7 programs, some students to feel the impact

RMC says these seven programs had fewer than 10 graduates each year for the past five years.

The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) is cutting seven low-enrolment programs starting in the 2025–26 school year.

The move comes after a year-long review aimed at making operations more efficient.

Programs being paused include Business Administration and Economics, Chemistry, Economics, Electrical Engineering, English, French, and Mathematics.

RMC says these seven programs had fewer than 10 graduates each year for the past five years.

Around 40 first-year cadets planning to take those programs will still be allowed to study within their broader fields, such as science, engineering, or humanities. Students already in the programs can finish their degrees.

RMC says the decision was not due to funding cuts. Instead, it was based on long-term sustainability and demand. In recent months, similar cuts at St. Lawrence College and Queen's University were made for financial reason.

No permanent staff are affected, though temporary contracts will be reviewed.
