Queen's student completes paper clip mission to get Frontenacs jersey

Solenne Nicol did the challenge after seeing a video and seeing her first-ever hockey game in Kingston.

An international student was able to secure a Kingston Frontenacs jersey thanks to a small investment, a paper clip.

Solenne Nicol is from France and is studying at Queen's University in the Smith School of Business.

She recalls the time when her professor showed the class a video that inspired her to barter her way to a jersey.

Nicol tells Reid and Ben of 98.3 FLY FM that she wanted a Frontenacs jersey after going to her first ever hockey game in Kingston on New Year's Eve.

Nicol's first trade was for a five-colour highlighter that she made with her roommate's boyfriend. Throughout the experience, she exchanged for things like candles, a hand-crochet plushie doll, and a leather handbag.

Nicol says the most interesting trade was with one of the local businesses in the downtown.

Nicol was able to complete her three-month mission last Friday at Slush Puppie Place where she exchanged the handbag that contained a number of other products for the hockey jersey.

She says she really enjoyed the experience and suggests others try it out.

Nicol says she plans to take the jersey with her back home to France at the end of the semester. She says she will always remember the great time she had while in Kingston.
