More than $250,000 was raised for cancer research, there were over 650 participants at the event.
There are a quarter-of-a-million reasons the organizers of the Relay for Life event at Queen's University are smiling.
The group recently held their fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society at the ARC on March 20. More than 650 took part in the 12-hour, all-night event.
Head recruitment coordinator Ella Johnson says in addition to walking around the track, there were a number of other activities.
Once all the money was counted, more than $250,000 was raised easily exceeding their goal of $170,000. Last year, they set a then-record $225,000.
Johnson says it was great seeing so many people get together for a common cause.
Johnson wants to thank everyone who participated and the volunteers who helped put it all together.
Johnson says their mission never ends as it is a continus push to raise money for cancer research. She says plans will soon get underway for the 2027 event.
