The outage, set for Sunday Feb 22 from 6 am to 10 am, is required to allow Hydro One to complete upgrades to its infrastructure.
A planned power outage will affect customers in Kingston's east end, Wolfe Island, Howe Island and Gananoque later this month as part of system upgrades by Hydro One.
Eastern Ontario Power (EOP) is advising residents and businesses that the outage is scheduled for next Sunday, Feb. 22, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The mandatory outage is required to allow Hydro One to complete upgrades to its infrastructure. During this time, the main electrical feed to Gananoque will be taken offline, resulting in a town-wide loss of power.
EOP stated that the timing was selected to reduce disruption as much as possible and is encouraging customers to plan ahead. If unforeseen circumstances arise, the alternate date for the work will be March 1.
“In an effort to minimize the inconvenience, the outage has been scheduled at times thought to be the least disruptive to our customers,” said Jackie Baird, Regional Manager, EOP.
“We recognize the inconvenience this Hydro One mandatory outage may cause our customers and we encourage customers to plan accordingly and thank them for their patience and understanding.”
Customers can find additional information about planned outages on EOP’s website and are encouraged to follow the utility on social media for updates. For further details, residents may contact EOP directly by phone or visit its website.
Eastern Ontario Power serves approximately 3,700 customers in Gananoque and is a subsidiary of FortisOntario Inc.
