They continue to receive complaints about people posing as bank officials.
Watch out for people posing as bank officials.
Investigators with Kingston Police say they continue to receive reports of fraudulent bank investigators, employees or security staff.
They say scammers go up to victims telling them that someone is making unauthorized transactions on their accounts. They in turn ask them to help in the investigation by providing personal information, online banking credentials, or verification codes.
Investigators are reminding residents that no financial institution will ever contact customers asking for passwords, verification codes, surrender their bank cards, or purchase gift cards or bitcoin.
Anyone who has received such calls should hang up and contact the bank directly. They should also contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext 0.
