The group travelled from Kingston to Gananoque raising over $16K for the Maltby Centre.
The Maltby Centre are the beneficiaries of a donation from a group that made their way from Kingston to Gananoque in one day on stand-up paddleboards.
The group has been organizing this charity event for the last nine years.
This year, they began their journey from the Kingston Yacht Club to the Ivy Club in Gananoque covering 42 kms.
One of the participants, Peter Dalton, says someone had an idea to do paddleboarding as a way to raise money for non-profits.
It took approximately eight hours for the group to paddle their way along the St. Lawrence River on September 11.
Dalton says the conditions on the water were good and that made it for a more enjoyable trip.
The group raised arond $16,000 for the Maltby Centre, a centre in Kingston for children with mental health issues and autism. In the nine years, the group has raised over $100,000 for local charities.
Dalton, a board member at the Maltby Centre, says other local organizations in the Kingston area have also benefit from their generosity.
