Two trucks were removed from the road due to serious safety defects.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say multiple charges were laid and two commercial motor vehicles were taken out of service during a recent safety enforcement campaign in Lennox and Addington County.
Officers with the L&A County OPP Detachment carried out 11 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspections as part of the initiative. This included 10 Level I inspections and one Level II inspection, focusing on vehicle condition, cargo securement, driver credentials, and hours of service rules.
Police issued three Provincial Offence Notices and one 14-day driver’s licence suspension after a warning was registered on an approved screening device. Two trucks were removed from the road due to serious safety defects.
The OPP says the goal is to identify unsafe commercial vehicles and drivers before they cause collisions. Officials add similar enforcement campaigns will continue throughout the year to improve road safety. Residents can report concerns to police.
