Minister of Energy and Mines Stephen Lecce says investments will be needed meet energy demands.
Ontario has launched a new expert panel to strengthen and modernize its electricity distribution system.
Minister of Energy and Mines Stephen Lecce announced the creation of the Panel for Utility Leadership and Service Excellence, or PULSE, to help ensure Ontario can meet growing energy demands while keeping power affordable.
The panel will advise the province on improving customer service, funding infrastructure upgrades, and ensuring reliable power delivery during extreme weather events. Lecce said Ontario’s local utilities are facing mounting costs and capacity pressures, with as much as $120 billion in investments needed over the next two decades.
Members of the panel include Anthony Haines, Paula Conboy, Alexander Nuttall, and David MacNaughton, supported by former Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz as an expert advisor.
PULSE will provide recommendations in early 2026 to help build a stronger, smarter, and more resilient electricity grid to power Ontario’s future growth.
