Health minister announces changes to 'Learn and Stay' grant
Establishing a strong physician workforce is a key priority for the Ford Government.
In order to help more people get access to health-care providers, the province is expanding the 'Learn and Stay' grant to include family medicine.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, says the program is a big step towards ensuring everyone has access to a family doctor.
Since 2018, more than 12,500 physicians have joined the health care system, including a nearly 10 per cent increase in family doctors.
Jones says the program covers tuition and other costs to include students committing to become family doctors in Ontario.
Estimates are the program should allow 1.36 million more Ontarians to connect to primary care.
