Mayor John Beddows initially proposed putting clamps on tires of vehicles with Quebec license plates as a measure to address parking infractions.
During a special meeting of council last night in the Town of Gananoque, a widely discussed parking bylaw, will now see no boots as part of a penalty for those who receive a parking violation from outside the province.
Recently a parking bylaw was discussed to include tire clamps to be placed on Quebec plated vehicles if they were to receive a parking violation.
The boot would be removed once the fine was paid. The bylaw was then re-worded and re-signed by the Mayor to read "out of province vehicles".
Last night after much discussion it was decided among all members of council to scrap the bylaw completely, which was carried and removed from the Mayoral Directive.
Mayor John Beddows did propose to change the current parking rates in the town, to one dollar per hour as opposed to the current one dollar for 40 minutes.
The next regular meeting of council in Gananoque is set for Tuesday October 7th at Gananoque Town Hall.
