The 142,000-square-foot store will be located near Division Street and Highway 401, offering groceries, general merchandise and pharmacy services.
Kingston residents can expect a new Walmart Supercentre in the city’s east end in 2027.
Walmart Canada announced Thursday that it will be the anchor tenant in a new SmartCentres shopping development at Division Street and Highway 401.
The approximately 142,000-square-foot store will be Walmart’s second Supercentre in Kingston, offering groceries, fresh meat, seafood, baked goods, household products, electronics and clothing.
The location will also include a pharmacy, along with pickup and delivery services.
Walmart Canada Senior Director of Real Estate Shawn Fujiki says the new store will bring the retailer closer to more residents, including downtown residents and students.
The development is part of Walmart Canada’s $6.5-billion investment to expand its stores and supply chain across the country.
The Kingston East location is the sixth new Supercentre announced for Ontario under the investment plan. Walmart says it operates 150 stores in the province and employs more than 45,000 people.
