The accused was initially charged with criminal harassment.
A member of the Kingston Police Service is facing additional charges following an ongoing investigation by the Belleville Police Service.
BPS say the officer was first charged on February 11, 2026, with criminal harassment.
After further investigation into new allegations from the complaint, the officer was arrested again on March 24 and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of assault.
The accused has been released on an undertaking with conditions and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Investigators say no further details will be released at this time.
Officials note the decision is meant to protect the privacy of the complainant and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing case.
