Saturday's game between the Gaels and the Paladins goes at the Lou Jeffries Arena in Gananoque.

The Lou Jeffries Scholarship Game returns to Gananoque on Sept. 19, continuing a long-standing tradition of supporting local hockey players as they pursue post-secondary education.

Now in its 21st year, the annual event raises funds for the Lou Jeffries Fund, which awards a Queen’s University varsity hockey player a scholarship worth $5,000 per year for four years, totaling $20,000. The fund honours the legacy of Lou Jeffries, remembered as a man of integrity, vision and passion who played a pioneering role in the development of hockey in Gananoque.

The game between the Gaels men's hockey team and the RMC Paladins will be held at 3 p.m. at the Lou Jeffries Arena. Adult admission is $10, while children under 16 receive free entry when accompanied by a paying adult or when wearing a Gananoque Islanders or Gananoque Royals jersey.

Organizers are also seeking community support through Gold ($1,000), Navy ($500) and Red ($250) sponsorship opportunities to help keep the scholarship program thriving for future generations.
