Adam MacIntosh focuses on stability, mental health and public safety.
Adam MacIntosh was formally sworn in this week as Kingston’s chief of police, outlining priorities that include public safety, officer wellness and stability within the service.
MacIntosh began the role on Jan. 20, succeeding Scott Fraser, who retired on New Year’s Eve.
Family members, officers and community leaders attended the ceremony marking the leadership transition at Kingston Police.
MacIntosh says that he's grateful to have had a ceremony and be surrounded by his family and friends.
MacIntosh brings experience from local policing and international work with the RCMP. He has previously served in Nunavut and British Columbia. While this is his first policing position in Kingston, he has family ties across Eastern Ontario.
He says that he looks forward to serving the community.
MacIntosh has said he wants to encourage officers to build long careers in Kingston and strengthen mental health supports, especially as the city’s population continues to grow.
