The City is offering funding and training for residents to lead local climate projects.
The City of Kingston is looking for residents and community organizations to help lead local climate action through its 2027 Neighbourhood Climate Action Champions program.
The fifth annual program provides participants with training, resources and up to $2,000 to develop and lead sustainability projects in their neighbourhoods.
Champions are expected to spend about four to five hours each month on climate outreach, project development and implementation. City staff will also provide support as participants develop their projects.
The 2026 program supported 18 projects focused on climate adaptation, mitigation and education. Projects included pollinator gardens, Little Forests, energy-efficiency workshops, climate education events and biodiversity lessons in local schools.
The City says community collaboration is an important part of Kingston's response to climate change.
Applications are open to residents and community organizations through Get Involved Kingston until Oct. 22.
The program supports the City's Climate Leadership Plan and Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
