City launches long-term visioning project for Memorial Centre, Centre 70 and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
The City of Kingston is asking residents to help shape the future of three major community recreation sites through a new long-term planning project.
The city has launched a multi-site visioning and capital planning process for Centre 70, the Kingston Memorial Centre and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour. The project will explore future development, upgrades and investment at the facilities over the next 20 years.
A consulting team led by Sierra Planning and Management will work with MJMA Architecture and Design and Ingersoll and Associates Inc. to examine community needs, site opportunities and financial feasibility.
City officials say the process will move from community engagement to concept development, capital costing and operational planning.
Residents, user groups and stakeholders are being encouraged to share their ideas through upcoming public information sessions.
Facility-specific drop-in events will be held throughout March, followed by an online survey expected to launch in April.
Feedback will help guide future recreation planning across the community.
