Residents invited to review Official Plan update and Natural Heritage Study before April deadline.
The City of Kingston is asking residents to review and comment on the Second Draft of its new Official Plan and a draft Natural Heritage Study that will help guide growth through 2051.
City officials say the documents outline how Kingston could expand over the next 25 years, including decisions about housing, infrastructure, transportation, climate resilience and protecting natural areas.
The Second Draft reflects feedback from more than 900 public comments received during the first consultation phase.
“This is a working draft, and community feedback is a critical part of strengthening it,” said Laura Flaherty, project manager with Planning Services.
Kingston’s population is projected to reach about 220,000 by 2051. Studies show the city may need to expand its urban boundary to support future housing and employment growth.
Residents can review the draft plans and submit feedback online or by email until April 21. Public input will help shape the final Natural Heritage Study and the third draft of the Official Plan.
