A cell phone was left unattended, it was gone when the victim returned to retrieve it.
Kingston Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman suspected of stealing a cell phone and wallet case from a west-end business in August.
Police say the complainant accidentally left her phone, which contained banking cards and identification, in a lone occupancy washroom. Surveillance video shows a woman entering the washroom next.
When she exits, she appears to adjust a rectangular object in the right rear pocket of her shorts. Moments later, the complainant can be seen passing the woman in the hallway as she returns to search for her phone — but it is gone.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian woman, 50 to 60 years old, heavyset, with short dark hair. She was wearing a purple t-shirt, denim shorts and sandals, and using a wide-based cane in her left hand.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Steve Koopman at Kingston Police.
