They say it takes police, government, community partners, businesses, and residents to protect neighbourhoods.
This is Crime Prevention Week in Ontario.
Police forces from across the province including Kingston Police are taking part in the campaign that runs until Saturday.
The theme this year is Working Together to Protect Ontario.
In a news release, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police are emphasizing that crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility. They say it takes the combined efforts of police, government, community partners, businesses, and residents to protect neighbourhoods.
There are four priorities that Kingston Police say they are focusing on during Crime Prevention Week: crimes against person, crimes against businesses, reducing victimization, and justice reform and bail reform.
They are also encouraging residents with security cameras to sign-up for the CAMsafe program. The program is a registry that gives investigators the ability to access footage of crime scenes.
More on CAMsafe can be found by going to their website.
