City Hall gathering to reflect on progress and challenges since 94 Calls to Action.
The City of Kingston is hosting a community event on Sunday, February 22nd to reflect on Canada’s reconciliation journey, 10 years after the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada report.
The event, titled 10 Years Forward, will feature keynote speakers Marie Wilson, a former TRC commissioner, and Stephen Kakfwi, a Dene leader and former Northwest Territories premier.
In 2015, the TRC released 94 Calls to Action aimed at advancing reconciliation. Organizers say the discussion will explore what progress has been made and the challenges that remain.
Amber Bryant-Peller, manager of Indigenous initiatives for the city, says the event offers an opportunity for learning and dialogue across the community.
The gathering is presented in partnership with several local organizations focused on reconciliation and inclusion.
