David Hatt discovered he had won while waiting in line at a drive-thru.
Kingston’s David Hatt is still in disbelief after winning a life-changing $75 million LOTTO MAX jackpot — the biggest in Ontario lottery history and the second largest in Canadian history.
The married father of two discovered the win while in a drive-thru line for his morning coffee, checking his ticket from the August 19, 2025 draw using the OLG App. At first, he thought he had won $75,000, until he noticed several extra zeros.
“I went home right away and told my wife to sit down,” he said, laughing during his OLG Winner Celebration in Toronto. The couple, known for their shared values, plan to support family and give back to their community.
Hatt says the windfall will help them build their dream home, explore Europe’s countryside, and make a lasting difference for vulnerable people.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer/Snack Express on Bath Road in Kingston.
