The Kingston Fall Fair is bringing back their Ambassador Competition.
In a news release, the competition aims to promote youth leadership and increased profile for regional agriculture.
V-P of the Kingston & District Agricultural Society Heather Ambrose says the goal is to provide opportunities for youth to get involved and develop leadership and public speaking skills
This year’s competition is open to youth of any gender between 17 and 24 years of age living in the city of Kingston, Frontenac County, or a member of Frontenac 4H.
Applicants will be judged on their application, a short Interview with a panel of judges, a prepared speech, and an impromptu response to a question at the Final Competition, which takes place the opening night of the fair.
Ambrose says the Fair used to have a Queen of the Fair contest but they are following other fairs and updating the concept.
The winner will receive an $800 cash prize plus a clothing allowance.
They will attend ribbon and trophy presentations at various competitions during the fair, and attend other events throughout the year.
They will also attend the 3-day Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies convention in Richmond Hill in February 2026, and have the option to compete at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto next summer.
Those interested have until July 31 to submit an application on the Kingston Fall Fair website.
The 2025 Kingston Fall Fair goes from September 11 to 14 at the Memorial Centre grounds.
