The driver was found slumped over the steering wheel with loud music blasting.
Instead of going out to catch impaired drivers, Kingston Police had one come to them.
A person went to the Collision Reporting Centre located inside police headquarters on Division St on Monday. The individual wanted to report a collision that they were involved in earlier in the day.
Investigators say after being instructed to fill out forms, the individual was later seen asleep in the driver's seat of the vehicle slumping over the steering wheel with loud music blasting. The attendant at the reporting centre told the investigator that he could hear loud music coming from the vehicle from inside the building.
An officer then went to the parked vehicle and spoke to the driver. Investigators say there was a strong smell of alcohol from the driver and two open containers of alcohol from inside the vehicle.
An arrest was made and the individual was taken inside to conduct breath tests which later confirmed that the driver was over the legal limit.
The 35-year-old from Kingston was charged and is out with a future court date.
