City proposes update to bylaw tied to home energy financing program.
The City of Kingston is inviting public input on a proposed amendment to a bylaw tied to its Better Homes Kingston Program.
The program allows homeowners to finance energy efficiency and water conservation upgrades, with costs repaid over time through a charge added to their property taxes.
Council has given notice it intends to update the bylaw that governs how these local improvement charges are applied. Details of the proposed changes were not outlined in the notice.
The amendment will be considered at a meeting of the Environmental, Infrastructure and Transportation Policies Committee on April 14 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
Residents can submit written comments to the City Clerk before 2 p.m. that day or attend the meeting in person to speak.
All submissions will be reviewed as part of the decision-making process.
