Kingston calls on residents to lead climate action projects in their neighbourhoods

Those interested have until Oct. 16 to apply.

The City of Kingston is looking for local leaders to step up and inspire change through the 2026 Neighbourhood Climate Action Champions program.

Applications are now open for residents and community organizations interested in leading projects that support climate action at the neighbourhood level. Each selected participant will receive training, resources, and up to $2,000 in funding to bring their idea to life.

Champions are expected to commit four to five hours per month toward outreach and project development. Past initiatives have included pollinator and edible gardens, energy efficiency workshops, and school-based education events.

Julie Salter-Keane, the City’s Manager of Climate Leadership, said the program has already helped dozens of community-led projects take root. She called it a powerful way to equip residents with the tools to make a difference.

Applications are open until Oct. 16 on Get Involved Kingston.
