Piner will showcase Kingston’s music scene during Capital Music Week in Ottawa.
Kingston will be represented on the Ottawa River this week as part of a special live music cruise bringing together artists from across Ontario.
Piner is representing Kingston during the Ontario Music Cities showcase, performing alongside artists selected by Mississauga, London, Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa.
The event is part of Capital Music Week, a nine-day celebration of music taking place across Ottawa from Oct. 2 to 10.
Executive director Melanie Brulee explains more.
More than 100 artists are participating in this year’s festival, with performances and other programming planned at 25 venues throughout the city.
The Ontario Music Cities cruise will highlight the music being created in communities across the province while giving artists an opportunity to reach new audiences.
Capital Music Week also includes concerts, showcases, workshops, industry events and the Capital Music Awards.
The Ontario Music Cities showcase gives Kingston a chance to put its local music scene in the spotlight alongside some of Ontario’s largest music communities. Brulee says that Kingston has an impressive wrap for artists.
The awards will take place Oct. 9 at the National Arts Centre, recognizing artists and music professionals across 13 categories.
