The group are kayaking along the Rideau River between Kingston and Ottawa.
For more than 25 years, Kevin Dionne of Brockville, his family and friends have been kayaking up the Rideau River to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Kayaking for Cancer is in honour of Dionne's mother and father-in-law, both of whom were battling cancer. His mother was getting treatment at Kingston Health Sciences Centre while his father-in-law was getting his at the Ottawa Hospital.
They left last Saturday from the Kingston Rowing Club and are expected to arrive at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa this coming Saturday.
Family spokesperson David Martyn says the group are greeted by people along the river.
Last year, they raised $89,000. On Tuesday, the campaign surpassed the $1 million mark in fundraising.
Martyn says the family brings a bucket with them on the trip collecting donations.
The trip from Kingston to Ottawa on the Rideau River is over 200 kms.
Martyn gives us a comparison of the distance they have travelled.
