Human remains identified in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory investigation

OPP say the victim was a 69-year-old resident of the territory.

Human remains discovered earlier this year in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory have been identified.

Officers from the Prince Edward County Detachment of the OPP responded on May 17, 2025, after remains were found near Highway 49, between Old Highway 2 and Lower Slash Road.

The deceased was a male from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory who would have been 69 at the time of his death in 2019. An investigation by the OPP, Tyendinaga Police, and the Office of the Chief Coroner confirmed there was no foul play involved.

Authorities have not released the name or other personal details of the individual to respect the deceased and his family.
