Sunday's event generated $51K, after of that total came from one donor.
Residents of Howe Island are exceeding expectations after Sunday's Terry Fox Run.
The event there generated over $51,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation, exceeding their goal of $22,000.
Organizer Joanne Forsythe says one local resident put up half of that total.
60 people participated in the event that was held outside the Township office on Baseline Rd. There was also a barbecue after the run.
Forsythe says the small gathering makes it a more community-driven event.
The Howe Island Terry Fox Run has been going on for 21 years raising a total of $232,000 since 2005.
Forsythe is thanking the volunteers who put the run together each and every year.
Across Canada, $30 million was raised from this year's Terry Fox Run and the proceeds will go towards cancer research.
