Motorists are being reminded about upcoming overnight closures as rehabilitation work continues on the Howe Island ferry docks.
Clearwater Structures Inc. has been awarded Contract 2022-4030 by the Ministry of Transportation to complete upgrades at both the Howe Island mainland terminal and the Frontenac Islands Township-side dock.
Construction on the project is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2026. During the work, a mainland detour route will be in place and clearly marked with signage.
The Township’s three-car ferry will remain in extended operation during closures to help minimize disruption.
Planned eight-hour nighttime ferry dock closures are scheduled for February 12 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. February 13, and February 16 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. February 17.
The island-side parking lot will remain closed for the duration of the project to keep access routes clear.
