Check out the Museum of Health Care at Kingston and Base 31's team up
Base31 and The Museum of Health Care (MHC) at Kingston have teamed up to present an engaging showcase of Canada’s military air and medical history in Picton.
The event features the reopening of the Lancaster Bomber KB 882 Preview exhibition, one of the 17 remaining WWII Lancasters, on loan from the National Air Force Museum of Canada.
The aircraft is being restored in Base31’s Hangar 1, an original British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) structure built in 1940.
This exhibit includes a new pop-up station by the Museum of Health Care. MHC’s Rowena McGowan told us more about the exhibit.
Visitors will also get the chance to find out if they are “Fit to Serve” through an interactive game. Claire Notman from the MHC who told us it’s in the style of a board game.
Base31 Museum Curator Madeline Smolarz shared that while they’re developing the museum, they wanted to provide early access to KB 882 and her story.
Visitors can experience this unique event during the Labour Day and Thanksgiving long weekends, from Saturday to Monday, 10am-5pm.
Tickets are available in advance at www.base31.ca.
