Will the Kingston Police beat the NDSS Hawks for a second year in a row?
A friendly hockey rivalry will return to the ice this week as Napanee District Secondary School students take on Kingston Police in a charity game supporting two local causes.
The second annual NDSS Hawks versus Kingston Police hockey game is set for Wednesday, March 11, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the Best & Bash Arena, with organizers hoping to build on the success of last year’s event.
Shawn Birney of the Kingston Police shared with KingstonDaily.ca the game is about more than just competition.
The matchup will feature NDSS players facing Kingston Police officers, along with community members including the mayor of Greater Napanee and former local OPP officers.
Carter Slaven says the NDSS team will have the best of the best.
Slaven went on to say the team is excited to return to the ice in support of the Morningstar Mission, which provides hot meals for students, and the Ontario SPCA Lennox and Addington Animal Centre.
Birney had a few thank-you's to share.
Community members wishing to attend will be able to buy tickets at the door for $10. All funds raised will be donated the Morningstar Mission at the L&A OSPCA.
