Greater Napanee man dies in hunting accident in Kearney

An investigation is underway.

A 71-year-old man from Greater Napanee was shot and killed during a hunting trip on Monday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called at 9 a.m., along with Parry Sound EMS and the Kearney Fire Department, to respond to the incident. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the death is related to a firearm-related hunting incident. The investigation is being led by the Almaguin Highlands OPP crime unit under the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. The Office of the Chief Coroner, Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the Ministry of Natural Resources are also involved. OPP Forensic Identification Services are providing support.
