They say the ideal facility would include courts, turf fields, walking tracks, bleachers, and change rooms.
A local community group is asking Greater Napanee council to approve a new multipurpose sports and recreation facility to serve residents of all ages.
Tammy Giles, speaking on behalf of the group, said the goal is to help the town reach its mission of being a vibrant, safe community that promotes healthy, active living.
The group highlighted trends like the rising popularity of basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, as well as limited access to school gyms for community programs.
The ideal facility would include courts, turf fields, walking tracks, bleachers, and change rooms. The group also pointed to successful multipurpose venues in nearby municipalities as models for Napanee.
Mayor Terry Richardson praised the proposal.
Council approved a motion to have staff bring back a report for further consideration.
