Queen’s comes back from a six-point halftime deficit to beat Ottawa 41-20
The Queen’s Gaels came from behind to beat the Ottawa Gee-Gees 41-20 at Richardson Stadium on Saturday.
Queen’s was down 20-14 at halftime, but the Gaels took control after the break, scoring 21 points in the third quarter without giving up any.
Quarterback Alex Vreeken completed 22 of 24 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown. Logan Walton was his top target, catching seven passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Jayden Gurzi-MacDonald also had a big day, running for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
Coach Steve Snyder was satified with the play.
Queen’s special teams helped swing the game as well. Tyler Mullan made three field goals, including a 55-yard kick, while the Gaels blocked two Ottawa punts. Muller spoke with us about his mindset.
Queen’s finished with 553 total yards of offence, compared with 308 for Ottawa.
The Gaels improve to 4-0 and will visit Western next Saturday for a matchup between two undefeated teams.
