Kingston controled the ice with steady pressure and a clutch empty-netter.
The Kingston Frontenacs protected home ice with a 4-2 win over the Barrie Colts Wednesday night at Slush Puppie Place.
Kingston opened the scoring early, striking at 4:41 of the first period. Barrie answered later in the frame to even the score before the intermission. The Colts briefly took the lead early in the second, but the Frontenacs responded with back-to-back goals, including a power-play marker, to take a 3-2 edge into the third.
Early in the final frame, Barrie appeared to tie the game, but Kingston challenged the play for offside. After review, the goal was overturned, allowing the Frontenacs to hold their one-goal lead.
Goaltender Gavin Betts made 18 saves, including key stops in the third to keep the door closed.
Head Coach, Troy Mann says they had a good night in the neutral zone.
With Barrie pressing and the net empty late, Kingston sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 30 seconds left in the final period.
Team Captain, Vann Williamson says that they will be bringing the same energy on the ice for this Friday at Slush Puppie Place.
The Frontenacs finished 1-for-2 on the power play, while Barrie went scoreless on its chances. Attendance was 3,135.
