Former NHLer teams up with BGC South East

Kingston native and Stanley Cup Champion Kirk Muller will serve as a Mentorship Ambassador.

A former Kingston NHL player is joining the Boys and Girls Club South East.

The organization announced last week that Stanley Cup Champion Kirk Muller will be a Mentorship Ambassador supporting youth programs, staff development and community outreach through this partnership.

Muller has worked with CEO Harold Parsons while the two were on the Queen's Gaels men's hockey coaching staff.

He says that relationship is how he ended up in his new role.

Muller will be using his years of experience as a hockey player and coach to help young people build confidence, leadership skills, teamwork and a positive connection to sport. He will also be taking part in the Making a Difference Speakers Series in March where he will engage with CBC’s The Debaters host and comedian Steve Patterson in front of 250 corporate and community leaders and a high-school edition reaching 1,000 youth.

Muller says he looking forward to helping youth in the community.

Muller has spent over 40 years in the NHL. Most recently, he was with the Washington Capitals as an assistant coach.

Muller feels being able to stay in the game will translate into success with BGC South East.

Muller will be the keynote speaker at a special Training Symposium this Winter, bringing together community sport coaches, BGC program staff and youth workers.
