A Gatineau, Québec man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a fatal collision on eastbound Highway 401 near Deer Ridge Drive, west of Gananoque. The crash occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, when a transport truck collided with a pick-up truck.
The driver of the transport truck was uninjured, while the 51-year-old Gatineau, Québec, man driving the pick-up truck was transported to a regional trauma centre, where he was pronounced deceased. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, along with Technical Collision Investigators and a Collision Reconstructionist, assisted with the investigation. Highway 401 was closed for approximately eight hours to allow for a thorough examination of the scene.
