It took over five hours before Kingston Fire and Rescue were able to put out the blaze.
Fire and thick smoke filled the night sky in a northwest section of Kingston.
Crews from Kingston Fire and Rescue were called to a property on Creekford Rd. early Tuesday morning.
They arrived around 4 a.m. to find a structure engulfed in flames.
The City says fire fighters initiated a defensive attack to combat the fire.
The fire was put out at around 9:30 a.m. and crews cleared the scene about a half-hour later.
Kingston Police closed Creekford between Westbrook and Bayridge for several hours as crews were battling the blaze. It has since re-opened.
The City says the fire prevention division is investigating the cause of the fire but the Fire Marshall's office is not being brought in to investigate.
They say damage to the building is around $500,000.
No injuries were reported.
