A 29-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after a serious single-vehicle crash early Sunday on the Highway 401 overpass at North Augusta Road in Brockville.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 1 a.m. after reports of a heavily damaged vehicle. Police say the car had been travelling at a high rate of speed before striking a pole and rolling over. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was ejected and found with serious injuries.
Paramedics transported him to Kingston General Hospital for treatment. The exact time between the collision and its discovery by first responders remains unknown.
North Augusta Road was closed for much of the day between Parkedale Avenue and Waverly Drive as investigators examined the scene. The OPP Technical Collision Investigation team assisted.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor. Anyone with information is asked to contact Brockville Police or Crime Stoppers.
