The incident occurred just up the road from the scene of a truck colliding with a house.
The collision of a truck at a Kingston home created another incident just up the road.
Kingston Police closed down a section of Bath Rd and Coronation Blvd around 1 pm Sunday. The closure was to allow for the safe removal of the truck from the home.
As the truck was being removed, a vehicle approached a police cruiser with its lights on. The officer informed the driver of the vehicle that the road was closed to traffic and had to take an alternate direction.
Investigators say the driver was showing frustration and became irate at the officer. They say the driver then accelerated while turning the vehicle around and struck the officer in the leg.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and charged with assaulting a peace officer. The accused is out with a future court date.
Meanwhile, there were no permanent injuries suffered by the officer.
