The RoadTrip Music Festival will take place Sept 12.
Live music is coming back to the streets of downtown Kingston.
The Downtown Kingston BIA announced on Tuesday that they are organizing the first-ever Kingston RoadTrip Music Festival on Sept 12, 2026.
The one-day event will be the first live outdoor music event in the city since the Limestone City Blues Festival in 2023.
BIA Events Manager Sandi Griffiths says RoadTrip essentially replaces the blues festival.
Organizers enlisted the help of Virginia Clark of Flying V Productions who co-founded the Wolfe Island Music Festival and Steve Jordan, former head of CBC Music and founder of the Polaris Prize.
Griffiths says they will bring a lot of experience when curating their musical line up.
The festival will consist of three stages spread out along a 1-km stretch of Princess St which will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Griffiths says there will be plenty of things for people to do there.
At night, there will be performances on the main stage at Springer Market Square.
While they are announcing the festival, organizers have not yet confirmed the line up.
But Griffiths says work on who will be performing at the festival has been going on for the last few months.
