Jeff McLaren was found to be in violation of the city's code of conduct but will not be fined.
Kingston Councillor Jeff McLaren received a formal reprimand for comments he made to the media.
McLaren made remarks in a Kinsgstonist article in October alleging a council decision surrounding a motion he was advocating for was killed because of his mayoral aspirations, implying some members of council didn't want to give him a political win for his future campaign.
The city's integrity commissioner found those comments violated council’s code of conduct.
A formal reprimand with no monetary penalty was recommended, and supported by city council on Tuesday.
