Expect to see some signage and pylons at the intersection of John Counter Boulevard and Montreal Street.
Major intersection work now underway - what drivers need to know
The City of Kingston has started work at the busy intersection of John Counter Boulevard and Montreal Street.
The project aims to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and cycling access in the area.
Work got underway Monday and is expected to be completed by October.
Upgrades include new traffic signals and a wider multi-use pathway from Elliott Avenue at the K&P Trail to the Waaban Crossing.
Traffic in the area has increased since the Waaban Crossing opened in 2022.
The closure of the LaSalle Causeway made congestion worse, leading to temporary traffic signal changes.
Drivers and businesses should expect lane reductions and regular delays in the area as the work is carried out.
The City says the improvements will make travel safer and easier in the long run. The final phase of work is scheduled for summer 2025.
