
More police and bylaw enforcement will be deployed in the university district.
The City of Kingston is preparing for this year's homecoming.
Thousands of Queen's University alumni will be in town to take part in a number of celebrations from Oct. 17 to 19.
During that period and beyond, the City will be implementing their University District Safety Initiative (UDSI).
Starting 9 p.m. on Oct. 17 to 6 a.m. Nov. 2, there will be an increase in police and bylaw enforcement presence in the university district.
The City will also be closing the Gord Downie Pier and Breakwater Park beach to the public nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Oct. 17 to 19, Oct. 24 to 26, and Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
There will also be parking restrictions in effect from Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. to Oct. 20 at noon and from Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. to Oct. 27 at noon.

- William Street from University Avenue to Division Street – on south side only (north side is already no-parking)
- Earl Street from University Avenue to Division Street on south side only (north side is already no-parking)
- Division Street from Johnson Street to Earl Street - on west side only (east side is already no-parking)
- University Avenue from Earl Street to Johnson Street (already no parking)
- Johnson Street (already no parking)
The City says these measures are to ensure everyone enjoys the homecoming in a safe manner.
